Perth Early Learning School Toddler Overview
The Toddler room is where your child’s interests will lead them through a journey of exploration and learning, igniting their sense of being. Individual learning plans are the centre of the curriculum where the children are inspired, and encouraged to be capable, confident citizens, who contribute to the world around them. Through our key educator approach PELS toddlers will learn to recognise the social construct of the world around them and develop the skills necessary to engage and interact with their peers and wider communities.

Toddler Learning
- At this stage a child learns basic concepts, like health care, for example, washing hands before a meal. Vocabulary is learned at a fast pace and interaction with other children and educators provides an ideal environment for this. Social and cognitive development takes place and within the toddlers’ room, guidance in these learning areas is evident.
- Our educators are well versed with best practices, including Steiner, Shichida and Reggio Emilia.*
- The National Quality Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework are implemented, both in the design of the spaces and the planned programs, based on the children’s interests, needs and developmental stages.
- Frequent discussion with parents ensures that there is consistency between home and school.
